Kvik Living Chairs
We've designed three distinctive chairs in the spirit of the Danish design tradition. Simple in their lines, with attention to every detail. Made of FSC® certified wood. They're different, but clearly in the same family. We hope your family loves them too.
The Shell Chair
As designer Lars Thøgersen told us in our podcast last year, "The chair is actually a simple thing - it only has to raise your butt about 40 to 45 centimetres above the ground. It has to give some you some kind of rest and comfort." But coming up with a beautiful chair, that's something else.
High tech materials
We use a high tech patented 3D veneer to create our Shell Chair. It results in a smooth, curved surface for a chair that's comfortable to sit in for the whole evening around the dining table. The Shell Chair comes in light oak and dark oak and is the perfect complement to our Sociable Table and any of our Danish design kitchens.
The Horizon Chair — a new Danish design classic
Danish design is synonymous with elegant, distinctive chairs. Chairs are arguably the ultimate sculpture and nothing relates more closely to the human body than the chair. Designing a beautiful chair is an art — chairs need to be seen from every angle, they need to be made of the right materials, they need to be comfortable. That's why we started with the chair when we created Kvik Living. It's also why we collaborated with Hans Thyge & Co, one of the premiere furniture design companies in Denmark today.
The horizon line
The main feature of The Horizon Chair is its armrest. Lots of tender loving care was given to this design, to make it the perfect place not only to rest your arms and relax, but to set your coffee or glass of wine. The backrest is attached to the curve of the armrest in a light, almost magical way, like it's floating there. It results in a simplicity and clarity that belies the amount of thought that went into the design.
The Sociable Chair for your Sociable Kitchen®
The Sociable Chair is our take on a classic design. A comfortable curved seat that hugs your body, a back at the right height, upholstered or not, depending on your preference. It comes in dark oak and light oak to complement your new kitchen. Paired with The Sociable Table, it completes the Danish design look for the most important room in your home.
Meet the designer
Hans Thyge & Co is one of the premiere furniture design firms in Denmark today. They were the perfect partner for us, as we developed our new line of Kvik Living furniture. Their respect for the Danish design tradition, their knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, as well as their focus on circularity were exactly what we were looking for.
As Hans says, "When you do a collection, it has to have a kind of handwriting from us. So when we have done the first piece, it always gets more intriguing when you do the second and third one. It's a whole play of wanting to make things different, but having the same DNA."
